Mobile security gates can protect kiosks, pop-up shops, and other small format retail.

Using Mobile Security Gates with Small Format Retail, Kiosks, Pop-Up Shops & More
The retail landscape today is very different than it was even a few years ago. Large department stores often have difficulty attracting customers as online sales gain an increasingly growing part of the market. At the same time, many people are looking to smaller brands for a more personal experience. However, these smaller brands tend to not have the money or the desire to rent out large retail spaces to showcase their offerings. The result is many small format stores inside malls or other retailers, such as larger department stores.
Often taking form as a kiosk or pop-up shop, small format stores are a way for brands to get close and personal with their customers without having to take on a large lease for a big property.
More established larger brands have taken notice and many are now using the
small format style as well, often to test new concepts or to differentiate
their brand from competitors.
While small format retail is popular with companies and customers, these locations can be very difficult to secure. There are several reasons why.
One main reason is these locations do not typically have walls and doors like a traditional store. Kiosks are open to the public on all sides and, as long as there are people in the building, the kiosk can be vulnerable. Another reason is that many small format stores lack stock rooms and other secure areas to store products and other assets. This makes them a target for criminals. Finally, many pop-up shops are kiosks are only staffed by a handful of people. Given the nature of these retailers, the few staff members present are often busy speaking with customers or demonstrating
products. Criminals take advantage of distracted employees to commit crimes.
However, while small format retailers and kiosks have their own security risks, they can be protected from criminals. A strong way to do this is to use mobile security gates.
The Strengths of Mobile Security Gates
Physical security is a strong way to protect a business. That’s because it works as a physical barrier. Unlike other tools (such as alarm systems and surveillance cameras) physical security gates actually prevent crime by keeping criminals out. While many people are familiar with gates on doors and windows, there are physical security tools that can protect properties that do not have doors and walls of their own. These tools are called mobile security gates.
Mobile security gates attach to one another, locking firmly into place with ease. They can be joined together to protect areas of nearly any size, creating a strong physical and visual barrier around a kiosk or other such small format store.
This can be hugely beneficial for protecting retail locations that are closed for business as well as for securing certain areas that are off limits to customers (such as cabinets or other locations that hold stock). Mobile security gates quickly and easily lock into place when needed, but can be rolled or folded out of the way during business hours to ensure that a retail location remains welcoming to customers.
