How Security Gates Keep Airports Secure during the Busy Holiday Season
The holiday season is a busy time for nearly every business and public place, but this holds especially true for airports. Millions of people travel through airports every holiday season, making airports some of the busiest places to be at this time of year. With all of those people, proper security is paramount.
However, the large crowds and unpredictable nature of an airport (especially during the holidays) makes effectively securing one very difficult. While security guards are often utilized at airports, this is a rather resource-intensive way to secure a property. As crowds grow, you must have additional security staff on hand to provide security. And, if the security needs of the airport change, then guards must be reassigned and repositioned within the airport, which takes time and requires strict co-operation. Otherwise, you could end up with different guards in different areas being given conflicting information, which could lead to a lapse in security.
While security guards are certainly effective in many ways, they cannot be the only tools utilized. The same is true for video surveillance cameras. While these tools can be used to monitor areas and capture evidence, they still require that a person monitor the cameras and that someone responds to issues as soon as they are discovered. Again, this is a resource-intensive (and therefore costly) way to protect a property.
Securing an Airport with Physical Security Gates
For large public spaces with changing security needs (such as an airport) physical security tools are an incredibly effective way to keep things safe. Not only do they provide very strong security, but they are also a flexible tool that can be used in many different ways.
Mobile security gates can easily be adjusted, moved to different locations, and modified to suit a variety of situations. For example, while many airports are open late into the night, various stores and kiosks located in the airport may close earlier. Mobile security gates can quickly be locked into place to protect these areas, making them inaccessible while still allowing people to use the other areas of the airport without obstruction.
Mobile gates can also be used to adjust to changing conditions. If the airport becomes busier, and more check-in gates need to be opened, mobile gates can easily be unlocked and removed with ease. If areas need to be closed or blocked off due for security purposes, mobile gates can very quickly be positioned and locked, restricting access to these locations.
Physical security gates are effective because they place a barrier to restrict access. Unlike other forms of security, they do not require that staff be on hand to enforce the rules or actively monitor the situation. This makes them a much more cost-effective way to protect an airport or other large facility. Effectively using security gates also allows you to station guards in other areas and other roles, improving their effectiveness without allowing costs to balloon.
