Security Gate Applications Beyond Storefronts

Security Gates Aren’t Just for Retail Stores

When you think of security gates, you might think of a retail store blocking off access through gates on its front window or door. This is an application where security gates are effective, but it’s not the only way to use these physical security tools.

Security gates are useful in a wide variety of situations where you want to control access and reduce crime. This includes office buildings, warehouses, schools, shopping malls, airports and a wide variety of other locations.

There are a number of reasons why physical security is important for various different properties. The first one is possibly the most obvious: to prevent smash and grab robberies. These crimes aren’t just common at retail stores. Criminals target nearly any location that potentially has valuables inside. Physical security gates make it significantly more difficult to gain access to a property.

Most smash and grab robbers use crude tools such as bricks, rocks or baseball bats to break through glass. Security gates prevent these tactics from being effective, keeping a property safe and secure.

Security Gates for Access Control

Security gates used for access control

Security gates aren’t just used to stop people from getting inside a building. They are also perfect for controlling access inside of a property. In many different locations, there are a number of situations where controlling access in this manner is required.

For example, a large arena may block off access to certain areas during particular events where the entire facility is not being used. An airport may use security gates to close off certain gates or shut down areas that are not currently open.

Another situation where gates come in handy is at a shopping mall. Some areas of the mall (such as a food court, restaurant or movie theatre) may be open earlier or later than the rest of the mall. Security gates can be used to restrict access to the rest of the plaza during these times.

Using security gates for access control is a very effective method. Otherwise, security guards are needed to direct people around the building and prevent them from accessing restricted areas. This is a very costly and time-consuming endeavour.

Security gates are also effective for access control because they can very quickly be rolled back or folded out of the way. This allows you to quickly open up areas or close them off as needed. This flexibility is important for venues that change configurations frequently such as stadiums, concert halls, arenas, airports and other such buildings. By using security gates, you can easily change to adapt to the current situation.

Security Gates and Theft

Security gates can also be used to protect goods from those already inside a property, such as visitors to an office and even current employees. For example, items inside stock rooms, display cases, cabinets, etc. can be secured by gates. By placing these items behind physical security, you make it much more difficult for anyone to access them.

Criminals often rely on distraction techniques and then quickly steal items while employees are distracted. This is common with shoplifters at retail stores, but also happens at other properties. By locking valuables behind security gates, you prevent theft by making it much more difficult to access these items.
