How Security Gates Encourage Safety, Not Just Crime Prevention

How Security Gates Keep You Safe

When you think about physical security, your first thought is probably how these gates protect your property from criminals. And this is true. Physical security gates aren’t just an excellent way to put a barrier between criminals and your property, making it very difficult to gain access to a property, but they also deter criminals from even considering your property a target.

However, did you know that physical security gates also encourage safety, prevent accidents, and keep people secure? It’s true! There are many different ways that security gates keep you safer.

Security Gates for Safety

One of the main ways that security gates improve safety is seen at industrial sites, warehouses, and storage facilities. In many of these locations, there are areas where injuries could occur. In fact, slips, falls and workplace injuries are one of the major causes of workplace absence. Physical security gates work in many different ways to prevent such injuries.

For example, at a warehouse, security gates can be installed at loading docks. This makes it possible to still leave the garage doors open for ventilation and visibility, while eliminating the risk of someone slipping or falling from the dock.

Physical security gates can also be used to secure areas that contain hazardous materials or equipment. For example, some types of machinery and various tools require specific training before they can be used safely. To make sure that only authorized individuals are able to access these tools and equipment, lock them behind security gates.

Security gates can also restrict access to areas where potential injury could occur. For example, specific footwear is often required to walk safely on slippery or uneven surfaces. However, even with signage in place to warn people of the unsafe surfaces, many people will simply ignore the warnings. However, they won’t be able to ignore a physical security gate that is blocking their path.

Certain aisles in a warehouse or other such facility may contain chemicals that could potentially be dangerous. Protecting these areas with security gates keeps people safe. Mobile security gates can quickly be moved into place should an accident occur, such as a spill. Spills can be quite dangerous as someone could slip and fall on the spillage, or the chemical itself could be hazardous. By using mobile security gates, you are able to quickly secure the area. Once the hazard has been cleaned up, the gates can very easily be moved away, restoring access.

You can also use security gates to secure areas that are under construction. This drastically reduces the likelihood of a injury as only trained and authorized individuals will be able to access these locations.

Installing Security Gates for Safety

As you can see, physical security gates protect people from injury and harm in many ways. When physical security gates are installed, the average person simply cannot gain access to an area where they could potentially be harmed. However, authorized individuals can be given keys to the gates, allowing them to access these areas with ease.
